One of the questions I often see is “Do I have a smart meter?”

To help make sense of the various types of electrical meter systems, I have put together a series of videos that I took on a recent trip to Lake Tahoe in California.

What is unique about the Truckee utility company is that it uses all three types of systems (analog, AMR and AMI “smart” meters). I also found that Truckee is implementing a new type of smart meter that pulses much less frequently than other meters used throughout United States and Canada.
